Nero is keenly aware of the persuasive power of images and words and concentrates on sense shift to uncover the hidden communicative nature of power. His analysis of the world of international economy has produced an interpretative code that he himself defines as “post-real” and that reveals, through its apparent nonsense, the corrupted imaginary which regulates contemporary society.
The richest part of me is you gathers in an installation characterized by fuzzy borders all those elements which nourish the imaginary of the wildest communicative culture: from the asexual consumerist lust to the mysticism of fiction creatures, from the symbols of rebellion to the fetishes of a pastel-colored world, from a glossy magazine religious belief to a crippled humanity (a severe and little indulgent artist’s self-portrait). The semantic ground of battered (but formally rigorous) Vanity Fair is a kind of report about the linguistic and cultural relationship between the United States and Europe. A report which describes the Old Continent as the faded image of an old chicken coop, overcome by a sky where the EU’s stars mingle with those of an unimpressive motel, the Chicks’ Motel.
